After some research, it seemed the answer is a little bit of everything. With so many endorsements touting different benefits floating around, I was intrigued by the Hollywood Flawless Filter but didn’t want to take the plunge until I had figured out what exactly this product was meant to do. Some apply it under their foundation, others wear it on its own-ditching foundation altogether-and some consider it their highlighter of choice. The product seemed to be a mainstay in the routines of all the It girls, from Adele to the singer-songwriter Griff and now, two years later, it’s still buzzy. And like one’s cheekbones following an application of the highlighter product, the reviews were glowing. As I became TikTok-obsessed at the height of the pandemic, it seemed I couldn’t go ten videos without seeing my fellow beauty-lovers posting a Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter review.

Each spring I put a coat of Rejex on my motorcycles and antique car. Here's a random Bug Melt video from Youtube showing what it does.Excellent Wax I have been using Rejex for years, after reading about it in Car & Driver. There is always a coat of Rejex, and if a damp towel won't wipe away bugs easily, a small blast of Bug Melt gets it right off. Using the Bug Melt to clean up the mess made it possible to clean up the mess, and then Rejex made sure that if it had to be done again the process would be much easier. Somebody told me about Bug Melt, and Rejex. It was like cleaning a skillet that was left over heat burning food into the surface. There was a layer of dead gnats on all of the leading edge surfaces, propellor hub, landing lights, and landing gear that was so thick that I couldn't scrub the mess off spending hours trying. This means gnats by the billions just before dusk. A few years ago I landed at Gustine, CA to get gas and the airport is surrounded by land that is flooded for the use of migratory birds. I've used Rejex on my airplane for years, but along with Bug Melt the problem is completely solved. In fact, we specifically excluded all polishing compounds and solids from the product so it would be safe and beneficial for aircraft windshields. Is RejeX safe to use on aircraft windshields? When you factor in the cost of applying wax several times compared to a single RejeX application and the time saved in keeping your vehicles clean, RejeX is also an outstanding value. RejeX is easier to apply than waxes, lasts much longer, makes your airplane easier to clean and provides superior protection. However, once they see the deep, lustrous finish RejeX leaves, and once they see how much easier it is to apply than waxes, they often go ahead and do the whole plane. Many people start using RejeX on the leading edges of aircraft to make bug removal easier. Should I just put RejeX on the leading edges of my airplane, or should I treat the whole thing? ![]() RejeX leaves a shinier, longer-lasting finish than wax… and the wax can't adhere well to RejeX! ![]() RejeX can be used over existing wax however, the duration of protection will be reduced as the softer underlying wax degrades comparatively quickly. RejeX is not meant to be used on porous surfaces, highly oxidized painted surfaces, or to fill fine scratches. Protects and beautifies painted metal, glass, acrylic, gel coat, fiberglass, glossy plastic and polished metal surfaces. RejeX contains none of the free silicone oils found in some other products that are known to contaminate paint and cause problems when repainting. It's easy to apply and produces a deep, lustrous shine that outlasts the most popular waxes by months. It also makes graffiti easy to remove and can be applied to windshields to repel rain. This very thin film - less than a micron thick - prevents stains and adhesion of common contaminants such as exhaust, bugs, oil, tree sap, bird droppings, road grime, brake dust, etc. RejeX is a thin-film polymer coating designed to provide a high-release surface. RejeX was originally developed for the Air Force to keep turbine exhaust gas residue from sticking to aircraft. RejeX Polymer Coating (16 oz.) - So Slick, Bugs Can't Stick! I have put it on boat hulls, motorcycles and all kinds of windshields. I just found a good product and wanted to pass it along. I'm not a salesman, and have absolutely no connection with Rejex. I did it on my RG a month ago and it still looks like I cleaned my bike yesterday. Any bugs that end up sacrificing themselves on your bike, even LoveBugs, will easily wipe off with a wet rag. It goes on like wax, but comes off much easier. In fact, the instructions say not to wax your bike as the wax will degrade, taking the Rejex with it. Those of you in Florida know what we go through twice a year trying to clean LoveBugs off our fairings and windshields, and so far the only thing that works relatively well is Bounce dryer sheets. We use it on coaches because they have such a large face in front, and cleaning the bugs off can take hours. I belong to an RV forum and came across this product. 5/2/2023 0 Comments Shoebill stork scary![]() Shoebill parents will often scoop up water in their beaks and douse it on the nest to keep their eggs cool. Shoebills typically lay one to three eggs per clutch (or group) and both the male and female take turns incubating the eggs for over a month. If the nest is secluded enough, the shoebill can use it repeatedly from year to year. When the shoebill is ready to mate, it builds a nest atop floating vegetation, carefully concealing it with mounds of wet plants and twigs. Nik Borrow/Flickr Shoebills are monogamous birds yet remain solitary in nature, often wandering off to forage on their own. The process is known as “gular fluttering” and it involves pumping the upper throat muscles to release excess heat from the bird’s body. Shoebills also flutter their throats, which is a common practice among birds. The ensuing evaporation creates a “chilling” effect. Making their habitat in the deeper parts of the swamp is a survival strategy that allows them to avoid potential threats like full-grown crocodiles and humans.Īs it braves the hot wilderness of Africa, the shoebill keeps itself cool using a practical, albeit bizarre, mechanism that biologists call urohydrosis, during which the shoebill excretes on its own legs. They are solitary birds and spend most of their time wading through deep swamps where they can collect plant material for nesting. They can also be found around the wetlands of Uganda. Shoebills are a non-migratory bird species native to the Sudd, a vast swamp territory in South Sudan. Michael Gwyther-Jones/Flickr Their eight-foot wingspan helps support their large frame while in flight. According to the IUCN, there are between 3,300 and 5,300 shoebills left in the wild today. The bird’s declining numbers in the wild are largely due to its diminishing wetland habitat and overhunting for the global zoo trade. The bird can easily decapitate a lungfish with just a few thrusts of its bill before swallowing it in a single gulp.Īlthough they are fearsome predators, the shoebill is listed as a vulnerable species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, a conservation status that is only a step above endangered. Once the shoebill sets its sights on an unsuspecting victim, it will collapse its statue-like pose and lunge at full speed, piercing its prey with the sharp edge of its upper beak. Sometimes, shoebills will spend long periods of time motionless while they wait for their prey. They are patient hunters and slowly wade through the water scouting the territory for food. Shoebills hunt during the daytime and prey on small animals like frogs, reptiles, lungfish, and even baby crocodiles. Take a look at the shoebill in mind-bending motion. Birds are, in fact, evolved from a group of meat-eating dinosaurs called theropods - the same group which the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex once belonged to, though birds were descended from a branch of smaller-sized theropods. Its massive seven-inch beak is strong enough to decapitate a six-foot lungfish, so it’s no wonder why this bird is frequently compared to a dinosaur. The shoebill, or Balaeniceps rex, stands at an average height of four and a half feet. If you’ve ever seen a shoebill stork, you might have easily mistaken it for a muppet - but it’s more Sam Eagle than is Skeksis of Dark Crystal. ![]() But that’s not all that makes this so-called Death Pelican unique. This living dinosaur was beloved by the ancient Egyptians and has the power to overtake a crocodile. The giant avian is native to the swamps of Africa and is best known for its prehistoric features, in particular, its strong hollow beak which looks an awful lot like a Dutch clog. The shoebill stork has to be one of the craziest-looking birds on planet Earth. Shoebills are famously intimidating, standing at five feet tall with a seven-inch beak that's strong enough to tear through six-foot fish. |
